Highest Free Fall Record

I was watching T.V. the other day when this live recording came on that showed a man who was about to break the world record for highest free fall ever. At first I thought this guy was a major idiot. I mean who in their right mind would jump out of a plane. I'm a chicken when it comes to heights anyway but honestly if you actually think about it, its just plain stupid, but this guy took stupidity to new heights. He jumped out of a space capsule 39 kilometers above the earth. A space capsule! Meaning in outer space. He had to have the space suit on and everything or he wouldn't have been able to breath. So in other words, he leaped out of a space capsule for the worlds highest free fall record. He even was the first man to break the sound barrier while free falling. He also attempted the longest free fall record but fell a few seconds short. His fall lasted four minutes nineteen seconds and the record is four minutes and thirty six seconds. Although he was going for these records, he is a complete and total moron for risking his life to attempt these feats.

  1. After reading this blog I feel like I need to pay more attention to current events. I can’t believe I didn’t hear about this until today. The first time I heard this was in my Chemistry class. I was so surprised that somebody would do such a thing. I am glad I came across your blog because it allowed me to read the details. In your blog it states where he jumped from he could not breathe without a special space suit. I could not even imagine the rush he must have felt jumping. I get butterflies just thinking about him jumping. The whole time this was occurring he could have been thinking about whether he was going to make it or not, or how he would make history. I just don’t know why anyone would dream of doing such a thing. I guess he is not the only one, people do crazy things all the time such as: climb mountains, go down waterfalls, tight rope across things, and so many other crazy things. I guess the good part is he lived and nobody got hurt. If I would have new about it I don’t know if I could have watched, the reason being is I just don’t believe it would have been possible. I was proven wrong and I now believe it. I guess overall I am proud of him for completing one of his scary goals. This also shows if you put your mind to something you can do it!
